What's the right size scooter for me?

If for some reason you are currently restricted from having a driver's license in North Carolina then the only scooter choices for you are the 50cc models.

If this is not a restriction for you then you should consider the distance you need to travel when you use your scooter and the speed limits that you will need to maintain to flow with the other traffic.  And remember, you don't want to purchase a scooter that requires you to operate it at full throttle more than 20% of the time.

If you intend to use your scooter on any Interstate Highway you will need a 150cc or larger model.  50cc scooters are not allowed on Interstate Highways.  If your Interstate Highway travel is more than just a mile or two per day at 55 mph we would recommend a 250cc model.

As a guide, 50cc scooters can reach speeds of 30 to 35 mph, 150cc scooters can reach speeds of 50 to 60 mph and 250cc scooters can reach speeds of 70 to 80 mph.

Please consider that the scooters performance will vary based on your weight, the weight of your cargo, and or passenger, and the level of the roads you will be traveling.

These factors can reduce the speeds stated above by as much as 50%.  And again remember, you don't want to purchase a scooter that requires you to operate it at full throttle more than 20% of the time.
